FirstLight can help students become involved in building social awareness and contributing to good citizenship.
FirstLight works with students in primary, secondary and third level education. We have a variety of tools, activity packs, education packs and projects that students can participate in, building their awareness of the difficulties of the sudden loss of a child within the family unit and in many cases offering students opportunities to be actively involved in the work that we do.
The work we do with students can often offer them an insight into a career in social care, or encourage them to volunteer for FirstLight – or other charities, when they turn 18 years of age. Students often organise fundraising events in their schools or colleges, or participate in fundraising events such as our flag day collections, Bag Packing, etc.
A speaker from FirstLight would be delighted to visit your school, speak to your students and work with individual classes in whatever way is most appropriate for the school. Louise O’Sullivan Fundraising Manager at FirstLight will be delighted to work with you to ensure a positive experience for your students.
How Can You Help?
FirstLight offers support and information, and promotes research into the sudden, unexpected, often unexplained deaths of infants and young children. With your continued support we can continue to provide our services for free across Ireland.
