The FirstLight Families Podcast Series – Áine’s Story

"I don't want to be fixed, because if I was fixed it means I would be over losing Áine, and I'm never going to be."

In 2023, bereaved mum and FirstLight client, Amie, sat down with our Clinical Services Director, Georgia, to speak about the death of her beautiful daughter Áine as part of FirstLight's video project.

Amie was courageous in telling her story of experiencing fertility issues, finding out she was pregnant with Áine, then having to give birth to her at just 23 weeks, and Áine's passing soon after this. Amie's devastating experience was further compounded by all of this having occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amie and Áine's story was featured in the FirstLight promotional video, released at the end of 2023, but we wanted to share with you their full story as a podcast in the hope that hearing Amie speak openly about her experiences will help you to feel a little less alone in your grief.
