The FirstLight Families Podcast Series – Finn’s Story

“It’s okay to feel every single emotion under the sun. It’s okay to be angry…you’re not going mad…just because other people don’t understand it and don’t know what to say doesn’t mean that your feelings are any less valid.”

In 2023, bereaved mum and FirstLight client, Rebecca, sat down with our Clinical Services Manager, Elaine, to speak about the death of her gorgeous son, Finn, as part of FirstLight’s video project.

Rebecca was courageous in telling her story of experiencing the death of her son Finn at just 2 weeks old from Ectopic Atrial Tachycardia (EAT), which causes an abnormally fast heart rate. Finn had just had his two-week check-up at the doctor, and all seemed well, but unfortunately, that night, things took a devastating turn for Finn, Rebecca and her family.

Rebecca and Finn’s story was featured in the FirstLight promotional video, released at the end of 2023, but we wanted to share with you their full story as a podcast in the hope that hearing Rebecca speak openly about her experience will help you to feel a little less alone in your grief. We are so grateful to Rebecca for her generosity and courage in telling us her story of the love and loss of beautiful baby Finn.
